The UK’s most popular chewing gum brand, Wrigley, has announced that it will sponsor this year’s National Smile Month campaign.

The campaign, which will run from May 15th to June 15th, is headed by the British Dental Health Foundation. The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘the smile factor.’

The aim of the campaign is to encourage people to realise the importance of a healthy looking smile, not just for their oral health but also for their self-confidence and self-esteem. In recent years, celebrities have shown off dazzling white smiles and the British Dental Health Foundation is keen for people to link good oral health with success.

Wrigley, the chewing gum giant, will sponsor the campaign and the firm will also donate £100,000 to the British Dental Health Foundation; the money will be used to fund an Oral Health Education project.

Masterchef judge John Torode has been unveiled as a spokesperson for the campaign and he will be doing interviews to try and raise the profile of the campaign and get people involved in National Smile Month.

Wrigley is also hoping that the campaign will boost sales of their sugar-free Extra chewing gum, which can help to remove debris and plaque from the mouth after eating.
