Rachel Gibson, a dentist from the Wirral, is preparing to push her mental and physical strength to the limits next week, as she prepares for the Spartan World Championships.

Rachel, a partner at The Parks Dental Practice, will fly out to the USA next week after successfully qualifying for the international event. She is only one of only a handful of representatives from the UK.

The competition will take place in Lake Tahoe on Saturday 10th October and involves an incredibly challenging 14-mile route, which is scattered with more than 30 obstacles including a fire jump, a crawl through barbed wire and a rope climb.

Rachel qualified for the finals in America after finishing in the top 3 places at Manchester’s Spartan Sprint.

Although the competition seems daunting, Rachel is extremely excited and cannot quite believe that she has made it to the final. She has described the feat as a “once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Rachel has been training hard at Underground Training Station in Hoylake and thanked her trainer Stu for pushing her and instilling confidence in her. She has also thanked her husband Richard, who has been there for her every step of the way.

Rachel is hoping to fundraise for Cancer Research by completing the course.
