A dental practice manager from the Wirral is preparing to take on a test of endurance and strength this weekend in aid of a good cause. Stacey Collins will take on the grueling Tough Mudder challenge this Sunday to raise charity in honour of a former patient’s memory.

Stacey will be scaling heights, battling muddy waters, swinging on monkey bars and dealing with ice and electric shocks during the challenge, which takes place on Sunday, 14th September at Cholmondley Castle. Stacey is aiming to raise £1,000 for her charity, the Roy Castle Lung Foundation, and is tackling the extreme obstacle course in memory of Nick Pope, a former patient who sadly died from lung disease earlier this year.

Stacey, a mother of two, decided to run for charity after she was inspired by Nick and his courageous fight; he lost his long-term battle with lung disease in February, but never gave up and was an inspiration and source of support for others going through the same challenges. He was awarded the ‘Most Inspirational Person of the Year Award’ by the charity last year and campaigned until the end.

Before Nick’s passing, Stacey had promised to raise money for the charity and she signed up for Tough Mudder. Nick was a regular visitor to Moreton Dental Care, and he was hugely popular with the dental team. Everyone was very sad to learn of his passing and the team has been extremely supportive in helping Stacey train, giving her encouragement and supporting the charity financially by donating.

Stacey will be cheered on by family and friends, including Sue, Nick’s widow, who is a great supporter of the Roy Castle Lung Foundation and continues to raise funds for the charity.
