A dentist from Windermere is celebrating after his practice was awarded the annual prize for the best looking new building.

Mike Booth’s practice, Total Dental, scooped the annual award, which is given to local businesses that make an effort to blend in with the surroundings. The practice, which is located on Ellerthwaite Square, has been restored with a Lakeland stone front and wooden gables and matches the surrounding buildings and the overall look of the street perfectly.

Adrian Legge, Civic Society secretary, said that Total Dental was an “exceptional example of a building in harmony with the local area” and added that the building, which is completely new, fits in perfectly with the neighbouring buildings and is an excellent use of space that was previously unused.

Mr Booth said that it was fitting that the practice, which provides a range of cosmetic dental treatments and dental implants, was located in an attractive looking base.

Mr Booth was presented with the award at the Marchesi Centre in Windermere on Tuesday night. Mr Booth is also celebrating more than 40 years in the dental industry; the 63 year old has spent his entire career working in Cumbria and Lancashire.
