Whiter smiles”open doors”
There has to be a "happy medium" with teeth whitening, it has been claimed.
Speaking to the Northern News Services, dental hygienist Teanne MacCallum claimed that teeth that are too white look fake.
Ms MacCallum stated that naturally grey or yellow teeth can be just as strong and healthy as dazzling whites.
However, she acknowledged that a brighter smile can make people feel more confident and show off their smile more.
Citing a poll by Angus Reid, the source states that nine per cent of Canadians would flirt more if their teeth were whiter.
Toronto-based dentist Dr Charles Botbol remarked: "A beautiful, brighter smile makes people more attractive. It opens doors for people."
Adding that there are slightly more female teeth whitening patients, he said: "Most people are looking for a whiter, brighter smile."
Tif Qureshi of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry has previously claimed that Christmas is the busiest period for teeth whitening treatments.
