A dentist from Whitby has submitted a planning application to convert a former building society into a brand new surgery in Scarborough.
Alan Soare is hoping to turn the premises previously occupied by Skipton building society into a dental practice. The unit has been vacant since Skipton closed in 2017 and Mr Soare has submitted an application to breathe new life into the property and bring a valuable health service to the neighbourhood.
The plans for 5 Coldyhill Lane, Newby, propose converting office space into a two-surgery dental practice, which will house a decontamination suite, a reception and waiting area, a staff room and a disabled access toilet. The external structure of the building will not be modified.
The plans are now available to view and a consultation period is underway. A decision from Scarborough Council is expected in the coming weeks.
