She may be used to dealing with teeth, but former dental nurse, Christy Kroboth is facing a brand new challenge after swapping a career as a dental nurse for life as a professional alligator catcher. Christy started catching alligators as a hobby while she working as a dental assistant, but decided to make her passion a career after falling in love with her new pastime.

Christy said that she has always been an animal lover, but she decided to focus her attentions on studying to become a dental nurse. After work, she would head out and spend her time helping to catch alligators. She soon made a name for herself in the local area of Texas where she lived, and was renowned for being able to remove the alligators while they were still alive.

Christy was the only female in her class, but this only made her more determined to succeed in her chosen career, and show the boys what she was made of. She wanted to make sure that everyone was aware that she could catch a fully grown gator, and she made it her mission to impress from the outset.

In South West Texas, Christy explained, there is a large population of alligators, and a large number of man-made pools, which are often a tempting prospect for the animals. Homeowners are terrified when they spot an alligator, assuming that they’ll try and attack them and harm children and pets. However, there’s only been one fatality in the last 100 years, and the animals are actually very shy. It’s likely that they are as afraid of humans as we are of them.

After completing her training and gaining her permit, Christy is now incredibly happy that she made the switch from dental nursing. Even though she enjoyed the job, she finds the prospect of working with animals and doing something different every day hugely satisfying.
