A dental receptionist from Wells faced her fear of heights and abseiled down a sheer cliff face for charity before Christmas.

Jackie Doyle, receptionist at Rock House Dental Practice, abseiled down Avon Gorge in December to raise money for a local cancer charity. Jackie, who admits to having a fear of heights, said that she was terrified when she stepped over the edge, but was delighted to hit the ground, knowing that she had completed the challenge and managed to raise a significant amount of money for a really worthwhile cause.

Jackie was supported on the day by dentist, Matt Sica, who also did the abseil. He had experience of similar challenges, and helped to reassure her and ease her worries.

The abseil raised £240 and Jackie has decided to donate the money to Penny Brohn Cancer Care, a charity that provides support and advice for people affected by cancer and their families in Somerset.

Jackie thanked Matt for his guidance on the day of the abseil and all her colleagues, friends and patients at the practice for their very kind donations.
