Wellington dentist submits extensions plans

The owner of a Wellington dental practice has submitted plans to extend his current surgery in a bid to expand the dental team and increase patient numbers.

Barry Kasai, the owner of Wellington Dental Practice, is proposing to add a single-storey extension to the High Street premises. The additional space would create room for a new surgery and a waiting room.

If the plans are approved by Somerset West and Taunton Council, the practice would be able to treat more patients and hire up to 5 additional members of staff.

In a statement accompanying the application, the proposals are deemed necessary to “meet the specific functional needs of the growing dental practice.” In addition to a new surgery, the extension would be used to form a new staff room complete with a changing area and a dedicated waiting area for patients. The extension would also facilitate easier access for disabled patients and the elderly.

The practice currently employs around 25 members of staff, and the owner has ambitions to hire up to five new team members.
