Washington mum prosecuted for dental neglect
A mother from Washington was convicted for failing to seek timely dental care for her 10-year-old son.
Kathren Ann Carter, from Yakima, was convicted of criminal mistreatment of her developmentally disabled son on Wednesday 10 February 2010.
Reports suggest that her son suffered from severe tooth decay and several oral abscesses.
As a result of these ailments the youngster had to have a number of teeth removed.
Carter’s defence lawyer claimed that her client was unaware of her son’s oral problems and also said that she lacked funds for the treatment.
