Warrington Out of Hours Dental Care Switched to New Provider

Out of hours dental care and emergency dental services in Warrington will now be provided by Revive Dental Care. Revive took over services in the town from Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust on April 1st.

Some residents have raised concerns about the new service, as they have been informed that if they require a dentist after 5pm, they will have to travel to St Helens or wait to see a dentist in Warrington the following day. However, Glenn Coleman, head of Primary Care at NHS England- North (Cheshire and Merseyside), has reassured local people that services will be available for those who need them.

Mr Coleman explained that an in-hours urgent care service will run from 9am until 5pm Monday-Friday, and patients who require an urgent appointment will be seen at one of four dental clinics in Warrington. After 5pm, all calls will be triaged and patients will be given a choice between travelling to the closest out of hours clinic, which is in St Helen’s, or seeing a dentist in Warrington the following day. In the event of a call handler determining that a patient requires emergency treatment rather than an urgent appointment, they will be advised to visit Accident and Emergency.

Out of hours services will also be available in Warrington on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays between 9am and 4pm.

Mr Coleman advised anyone who has concerns or worries about access to urgent dental care to call the NHS England helpline on 0113 824 8268.
