Volunteers needed for dental event for the homeless

Organisers of an annual event to help homeless people are trying to recruit around 250 volunteers to help out on March 3rd.

The annual health event, which is held in Bellingham, offers homeless people a range of medical and dental treatments and services, including dental examinations and treatments, medical examinations, vision examinations, women’s health services. This year will mark the third anniversary of the Bellingham and Whatcom Project Homeless Connect event.

Volunteers will be asked to carry out a range of tasks and roles, including registering patients, serving food and helping patients at the event. Organisers are expecting more than 600 people to attend the one-day event. The event is expected to be more popular than in previous years, due to the rising number of people who are experiencing problems with unemployment, unpaid mortgage payments and debts. Organisers also expect a larger crowd as word about the event has spread and many more people know about the event than in previous years.

The event will also provide homeless people with information about housing, financial support and finding a job.

For many homeless people, the Bellingham event will provide the only opportunity for them to get the basic medical and dental treatment they need. Without free events such as this one they would go for months, even years without medical treatment because they have no means of paying for it.
