The University of Buffalo has confirmed that a free dental event will take place in November to mark Veterans’ Day.

The School of Dental Medicine will provide free dental care for local veterans on Saturday November 13th. A range of services will be available on the day, including hygiene treatments, check-ups, fillings, tooth extractions and denture repairs. This year’s program will be the sixth Dentistry Smiles on Veterans event.

The event has been organised by UB Dental in partnership with the Eighth District Dental Society. It is estimated that around 200 veterans from Western New York will benefit from free treatment.

All veterans are welcome to attend but organisers have encouraged those who want to visit on the day to book an appointment early to avoid disappointment. Appointment numbers are limited and the demand is expected to be high. Veterans can book by calling 716-829-2780.

Brandan Dowd, DDS and assistant dean for clinical operations at the UB School of Dental Medicine, said that the university is “proud to help veterans who have helped our country. It is a small token of our appreciation to assist the folks who have defended our country when it has needed it the most.”

Dental Smiles on Veterans is an initiative designed to help veterans to access affordable dental care, including those who don’t have dental insurance and those who do not qualify for treatment through the Veterans Health Administration.
