Tyneside Children Brush Up on Oral Hygiene

Sample News Big

Children in Tyneside have been brushing up on their oral hygiene habits thanks to the South Tyneside oral health promotion team.

The oral health team from South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust has visited a number of schools in the area over the last few weeks and rounded off their oral health road-show tour by spending time with children at Greenfields School in Hebburn.

The aim of the road-show tour was to get children involved in oral health and to educate them about protecting their teeth and gums to keep them strong and healthy. The oral health team ran a host of activities and games and took time to chat to children about teeth cleaning, healthy eating and the importance of visiting a dentist on a regular basis. Team members gave demonstrations, set up role play scenes and even arranged a tasting game to teach children about the relationship between oral health and eating.

During the tour, the team visited schools in Gateshead, Sunderland and South Tyneside.
