Thousands of dental patients are set to benefit in Portsmouth as three new NHS practices will soon be opening in the city.

Operating in the Portsea, Paulsgrove and Hilsea/Copnor areas of the city, the new surgeries are being set up by Best Practice Dental limited after it was awarded a contract by NHS Portsmouth.

NHS Portsmouth’s programme director Debbie Tarrant said that visiting a dentist is important for everyone and that having oral health examinations regularly was essential for maintaining good overall health.

She added that these three new practices would make access to NHS dentistry easier for many of the local population.

The Paulsgrove surgery, based at Paulsgrove and Wymering Healthy Living Centre, Allaway Avenue, is due to open at the end of January and the other two surgeries are set to begin treating patients in April.

The government and NHS Portsmouth are both putting forward £500,000 to fund the new surgeries.
