Thieves in Basildon have targeted a Great Knightleys dental practice for the second time in two weeks, police have confirmed.

The first incident happened on the 24th January when raiders gained access to Great Knightleys Dental Surgery during the night. Staff from the practice turned up at wok the following morning to find that the surgery had been turned upside down, but nothing had been taken except for a cash box. Unfortunately for the opportunistic thieves, the box contained only a few receipts.

The second break-in occurred over the weekend of the 11th and 12th February. On this occasion, nothing was taken, but a spokesman for the practice said that it was “disheartening” to know that burglars had attempted to gain entry again. In response, the practice has increased security.

PC Marek Jarowski, from Basildon Police, confirmed that thieves had raided the practice twice, gaining access by jamming open a window. On the first occasion, an empty cash box was removed and on the second, nothing was taken. The incident comes amidst a spate of burglaries in the local area. On Friday 10th February, burglars stole a box containing around £80 from a marquee at Friern manor, a popular wedding venue. Thieves also tried to break into Clayhill Road Pharmacy, but they were unsuccessful.

Anyone who has any information about the robberies is advised to contact Basildon Police or call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
