Three dentists from Tayside have downed their razors in support of a local charity mission. The dentists from Blairgowrie Dental Care, have vowed not to shave between Christmas Day and Burns Night to raise money for the ARCHIE Foundation. The mission, entitled ‘Beards for Bairns’, has been set up to raise money for a new twin operating theatre for children at Tayside Children’s Hospital.

Neil Rutherford, Stewart McLean and Mark Nelson decided to support the campaign after hearing about the ARCHIE Foundation early last year. They were impressed by the work carried out by the charity and have decided to support the foundation as their charity for 2016. Beards for Bairns is the first charity effort of the year and the team at Blairgowrie Dental Care has already come up with many ideas to raise money throughout the year.

The dentists said they are looking forward to the challenge. Mark has already done Movember in the past and is eager to enjoy a few extra minutes in bed in the mornings now that he doesn’t have to shave. The campaign has also attracted support from local football clubs Dundee United and St Johnstone.

Over the next couple of weeks, the dental trio will be collecting donations and tins will also be placed around the practice. They will also be posting photographs on their Facebook page to keep colleagues, patients, friends and family updated with their progress.
