Special care needs to be taken with crowns, bridges or dental implants when brushing teeth, warns Molar.

The oral health specialist has stated that these cosmetic dental treatments need extra attention as they are often overlooked while cleaning.

It explained: "The supporting gums around these areas are just as prone to gum disease as natural teeth and can need additional cleaning tools and techniques to keep them healthy and plaque-free."

As part of National Smile Month, which runs from May 18th to June 17th, the firm is advising people to ensure they remember the gaps between their teeth when brushing.

Missing them out can lead to gum disease, bad breath, tooth decay and possibly even heart disease, it claimed.

The month-long initiative runs in the UK and the US simultaneously and is based on the theme Brush for Health this year, reports the British Dental Health Foundation and Oral Health America.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18558870-ADNFCR
