Synergy Dental donates hundreds of face masks

Dental chain, Synergy Dental, has donated hundreds of face masks to members of the public and frontline NHS staff.

Dr Zuber Bagasi, owner of the company, ordered as many face masks as he could find to give away to people who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 and members of NHS staff working at the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Dr Bagasi sourced 5,000 FFP2 face masks and he is also hoping to order FFP3 masks to donate to the local hospital and other healthcare settings in the North West.

Speaking about the decision to donate PPE, Dr Bagasi said that it was “essential” for frontline staff to have access to face masks, especially as national stores are already becoming depleted amid unprecedented global demand.

The FFP2 masks Dr Bagasi managed to secure are not hospital-grade, but they are suitable for some basic care procedures and for use in other healthcare settings.

The number of coronavirus cases in the UK continues to rise, and some hospitals have experienced issues with a shortage of PPE for frontline workers. The government insists that there is enough PPE, but admits that the logistics related to distribution have been difficult.

Dr Bagasi and the Synergy team were eager to do their bit to help the national and local effort once practices closed and appointments were cancelled. The team is hoping to place more orders as stock becomes available and will continue to make donations.
