Swindon Dental Practice Submits Planning Application for Expansion

Sample News Big

A dental practice in Swindon has submitted a planning application to the council after outgrowing its current premises. The owner of Abbey Meads Dental Practice has applied to create a new practice on vacant land next to the current surgery.

The practice currently operates from the medical centre, but demand for places has grown in recent years as the local population has increased and the practice has outgrown its current home. The planning application details plans to create larger premises on land adjacent to the medical centre.

If the plans get the green light, residents will be able to enjoy large, spacious treatment rooms with all the latest equipment, a waiting area and improved access. There will be six consultation rooms in total and the plans include space for an optician area. The building will also house four first-floor flats, which will be occupied by employees of the surgery, and an archive library.

The current centre was built 20 years ago, but there has been a surge in patient numbers in the last few years and the demand now outstrips the supply. New premises would enable the surgery to take on more patients and provide both general and specialist dental services.

There are currently concerns about parking at the health centre and many patients currently use facilities within the village, however the new application includes plans for 18 spaces, which will be added to the medical centre car park.

The application will now be considered by planning officers and a decision is expected in the coming weeks.
