A dental team from Sudbury has raised more than £1,000 for a mouth cancer charity.

Dentists and dental nurses from Bank Buildings Dental Surgery dressed up as tooth fairies to complete a 10km charity walk in aid of the Mouth Cancer Foundation. The team walked 10km through London’s Hyde Park as part of the annual Mouth Cancer Awareness Walk.

Dressed in brightly coloured tutus and charity t-shirts, the dental team navigated the route and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, meeting new people and participating in a really meaningful and important event. Mouth cancer kills more than 2,000 people in the UK every year and more and more cases are being diagnosed.

Eileen Pettet, practice manager, said that oral cancer detection is a very important part of the service provided by Bank Buildings Dental Surgery and the team is there to offer screening, as well as supporting patients who are undergoing treatment.

In total, thanks to generous donations from family members, colleagues and patients, the team raised around £1,000 for the charity, which will go towards research, support for mouth cancer sufferers and their family and awareness campaigns.
