St Patrick’s Day drinking could rot your teeth

Sample News Big

Dentists are warning that too many alcoholic drinks could rot your teeth this St Patrick’s Day.

Beer is very acidic and can soften your teeth enamel. It can also leave your teeth discoloured and exposed to an increased risk of developing decay.

Dentists have recommended that St Patrick’s Day revellers should wait half an hour after drinking before brushing their teeth and that they should consider rinsing their mouth with water after downing a pint.

The oral health experts have also advocated drinking beer through a straw, so harmful acids don’t come in contact with your teeth, and chewing sugar free gum after drinking, as this creates saliva which protects teeth against decay-causing bacteria.

Fizzy drinks, fruit juices and alcoholic spirits can damage your teeth in the same way that beer can – so protect your teeth this Patrick’s Day.
