SNP warns voters about Westminster health cuts

Representatives from the Scottish National Party have warned voters that Westminster parties are aiming to cut the health budget in Scotland.

Scottish Health Secretary, Nicola Sturgeon, advised voters that other major parties were planning to carry out a “smash and grab raid” in an attempt to reclaim some of the deficit. In a rousing speech made at a dental surgery yesterday, Ms Sturgeon said Westminster plans could jeopardise all the hard work that has been put in over the course of the last few years. Recently, there has been an increase in NHS dental services, a cut in waiting lists and targets for cancer care have been reached.

Dental health was a major concern for the Scottish people, after a recent report revealed that people in rural areas were missing out on vital dental healthcare; the Grampian region was the worst affected, with many patients not registered with a dentist because NHS services were full in the nearest towns and patients were not prepared to travel for hundreds of miles for care. Now, efforts are being made to increase access to NHS dentists across the country and provision is improving. Last year saw a 6 percent increase in the number of NHS dentists and more than 500 students opted to pursue dental degree courses.

The Scottish National Party have issued a rallying cry for voters to choose them on the 6th May; they say that electing other parties could jeopardise the future of Scottish health, with Westminster being accused of preferring to waste millions of pounds on finding weapons of mass destruction. It remains to be seen whether or not Scottish voters will answer their cry.
