Smart Dental acquires Denny dental practice
Scottish dental provider, Smart Dental Holdings, has acquired a new dental practice based in Denny.
Smart Dental has taken over Birchfield Dental Care, beating a number of competitors interested in buying the long-established clinic. Birchfield Dental Care opened in 1996 and expanded quickly under the management of principal dentist, Dr Robert Johnston.
In 2005, the practice relocated to larger premises in line with increasing demand for treatment and it has been based on Glasgow Road since. The team provides both NHS and private dental care, catering for more than 9,500 local residents.
The practice was put up for sale with Christie & Co on a confidential basis. Although details were kept on the down-low, the proposition attracted a huge amount of interest, with over 20 enquiries and four offers on the table on the closing date.
Dr Johnston said that he put the practice up for sale with Christie & Co on the proviso that he would be able to stay on at the clinic after the completion date. He added that he was delighted with how the sale was handled and is now looking forward to working with the new owners in the future.
The practice has been acquired by Dr Summon Ramzan and Dr Michael Tang from Smart Dental Holdings. Dr Ramzan said that it hadn’t been as straightforward as hoped due to the pandemic but the duo was thrilled to get the sale over the line.
Both owners are excited to be joining forces with Robert and working to build on the long-term success of the clinic to continue to provide first-class dental services for patients.
