Sioux Falls gears up for visit of mobile dental unit

Sample News Big

Children in Sioux Falls are preparing for a visit from the Ronald McDonald mobile dental unit.

The mobile care unit will stay in the town for three days and children will be invited to visit the dental team for free dental care. The unit will offer treatment to children who have not visited the dentist for at least two years and will provide free treatments including cleaning treatments, fillings, extractions and preventative treatments.

Volunteers from the Dakota Smiles programme will treat the children and also take the opportunity to talk to children about oral hygiene, diet and visiting the dentist. Teaching children about brushing their teeth helps them to understand the importance of cleaning their teeth and looking after their gums and will encourage them to adopt a good oral hygiene routine, which will help to reduce the risk of harmful health conditions in the future.

The Ronald McDonald mobile unit helps hundreds of underprivileged children each year; the service helps to provide care for children who would otherwise struggle to see a dentist and enables them to learn about the importance of good oral health.
