Sheffield Dentist Hangs Up His Drill After 40 Years

Sample News Big

A dentist from Sheffield has downed his dental drill for the final time after treating the city’s patients for 40 years. John Lenton has retired after four decades in the business.

John studied at Sheffield University and continued his training at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital after graduating. After undertaking a fellowship in oral surgery, John moved to the Birks Road dental practice in Woodhouse in 1973. Later, he assumed ownership of the practice and has worked there ever since. Last year, the practice merged with another local surgery to form Woodhouse Dental Practice

John was described by a member of the dental team, Julie Fairfax, as a “marvellous boss” and she stressed that everyone, including his colleagues and patients, will miss him greatly.

John is now looking forward to taking time out to enjoy his hobbies, but Julie said that she wouldn’t be surprised if he kept himself busy, as that’s his nature and he has always worked very hard.

Colleagues and patients bade a fond farewell and thanked John for his amazing work over the last 40 years.
