Scottish Dental Practices Prepare For Childsmile’s Summer Campaign

Sample News Big

Dental practices across Scotland are preparing to launch this summer’s Childsmile campaign with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of children’s oral health and getting kids involved in Childsmile events.

Practices across the country will be converted into kid’s zones to educate and engage children and encourage them to adopt positive habits to keep their teeth and gums healthy and strong. Surgeries up and down the country will be offering games and toys and running special events to make dental practices appealing to children and help them to feel less nervous when they visit a dentist in the future. Children will be able to play and learn when they see their dentist and dentists are hoping that children start to look forward to their check-ups.

The Childsmile campaign runs every year and every child is encouraged to take advantage of a free check-up. Last year, feedback for the campaign was entirely positive, with many parents saying that the events had completely changed their child’s perception of going to the dentist.

Every child that visits their dentist is given a check-up, as well as a free toothbrush and advice about brushing, healthy eating and preventing decay. Fluoride varnish treatment will also be available; this is a preventative treatment, which helps to strengthen the tooth enamel and reduce the risk of decay.
