Golfers in and around Salisbury are urged to hit the greens in support of dental charity Dentaid.

The charity is hosting a golf day with an entry fee of £60, which includes an 18-hole round, breakfast and a lunch buffet, to raise funds for dental projects in some of the world’s poorest countries. The event will take place at Hamptworth Golf Club on the 2nd October and there will be competitions running throughout the day with the chance to win prizes.

Dentaid sponsors projects all over the world and it really makes a difference to those living in communities where dental access is a luxury. Volunteers travel to all corners of the globe to provide basic dental care and try to educate people on dental care. But the demand for help far outweighs the supply and the money raised will make a real difference to people who don’t even own a toothbrush, let alone have access to routine dental care or specialist help.

The charity, which is based in Landford, is due to celebrate its 20th anniversary next year and is working hard to raise as much money as possible to make a difference in countries such as Zimbabwe, Cambodia and Malawi.

Strategic director Andy Evans said that the golf event is one of the highlights of the year in terms of fundraising activities and urged locals and golf enthusiasts to support the event and get involved. The money raised will help to buy supplies and equipment, which will bring much-needed dental care to thousands of people.
