Roland DG Corporation develop new DWX-30 dental milling machine for zirconia crowns

Roland DG Corporation announced that they have developed a new zirconia milling machine available to dental industry distributors authorised by Roland DG for forming crowns in dental production. The DWX-30 dental milling machine is an open platform with virtual panel, compatible with dentistry CAD/CAM software, for moulding zirconia into the crown tooth restoration shape. Besides crowns, the device can also create copings and bridges in zirconia and wax.

Guidelines are provided through cosmetic dentistry standards on dental materials and the production of crown restorations to resemble natural teeth. Although a range of crown-producing materials like porcelain and composite resin are used, zirconia is a biocompatible, hard-wearing and affordable option that closely mimics the natural whiteness of teeth.

Not only is zirconia’s affordable price and productive results attractive as choice of material for crown restorations, but the design and precision of the DWX-30 dental milling machine brings benefits to dental practices, patients and the environment. The compact DWX-30 dental milling machine allows dental practices to easily cast, mill and produce zirconia crowns without the need for a separate dental lab. Features like the in-built dust collection system contributes to a cleaner dental environment; the automated sensor and tool set-up saves time; and the virtual panel makes it easier to design patient-custom crown restorations.

Roland DG report that they are “currently establishing partnerships with system integrators as well to create a complete production solution including the mill, scanner and software.”
