Research Shows That Brits Have Better Teeth Than Americans

Sample News Big

For years, Brits have been the butt of jokes related to their unkempt smiles, but a new research study suggests that English adults actually have better teeth than their counterparts across the pond.

A team of researchers based on both sides of the Atlantic analysed data from the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and the English Adult Dental Health Survey to compare standards of oral health in adults in England and the USA.

Researchers found that Americans were more likely to have more missing teeth than English adults, with an average of 7.31 compared to 6.97 in England. The study also found that Americans were more likely ot be impacted by socio-economic factors than adults living in England.

University College London researchers stated that there has long been a belief that Brits have bad teeth, especially when compared to people in America. But this research turns the tables completely and shows that English people actually have better standards of oral health than adults living across the Atlantic.

The study has been published in the festive edition of the British Medical Journal.
