Redditch Dentists Take On Kilimanjaro Challenge For Charity

Sample News Big

A husband and wife dental team from Redditch has successfully scaled the heights of Kilimanjaro to raise money for charity.

Dinesh and Sarbjjit Phakkey, from Dentist@Redhouse, were joined by their two children, Asha and Rajan, for the charity challenge. The family has raised more than £6,000 for Educaid Africa which helps to provide children in Kenya with access to education and training and learning opportunities.

The intrepid family trained for months in preparation, yet still found the ascent gruelling and at times, they wondered whether they would be able to reach the summit. Dinesh Phakkey said that the climb was “unimaginably” hard, but the challenge was extremely rewarding and represents an adventure, which will stay with the family for the rest of their lives.

Dinesh thanked colleagues, friends, patients and relatives for their support and well-wishes, which spurred them to the top, as well as their generous donations. The charity was chosen because education is extremely important to the family and Educaid carries out amazing work, enabling children to benefit from learning.

While the dental duo was away scaling the peaks of Africa, the rest of the dental team back home in Prospect Hill was also busy raising money for a good cause. Staff members completed Pretty Muddy, a 5k charity fun-run, in the pouring rain, to raise £780 for Cancer Research UK.
