Rapid City dentists host free clinic for homeless people

Sample News Big

Two dentists from Rapid City are offering homeless people free dental care at a monthly clinic held at the Community Health Center in Black Hills.

Dentists Chad Carpenter and Joseph Kieffer will host the free clinic on the first Tuesday of every month. So far, two clinics have been held and around 50 homeless patients have been treated free of charge. A team of dental hygienists and dental assistants have also volunteered their time to help with the clinic.

The dentists are offering an extremely valuable service, as many of the patients are suffering from serious dental health problems but have no means of paying for treatment. The clinic offers the opportunity of free treatment and enables the homeless patients to get the help they need; they are made to feel welcome and there is no pressure related to finding the necessary funds to pay the dentists.

Both dentists are on the Cornerstone Rescue Mission Board and are now committed to running a monthly clinic to help the homeless; dental health problems are prevalent amongst homeless people and most have no chance of getting treatment because dental care is so expensive.
