Ramsbottom Dentist Creates New App to Help Parents

A dentist from Ramsbottom has created a new app to help parents take good care of their child’s oral health.

Dentist4KIDS, a free app, enables parents to access useful information about children’s oral health. The app is easy to use and it provides easy access to advice about healthy eating, brushing and preventing tooth decay. There is also a timer, which enables parents to make sure that their children brush for the recommend 2 minute period.

Adam Nulty, from Ramsbottom Dental Surgery, created the app to make it easy for parents to learn about oral health issues. Tooth decay is one of the most common problems seen in young children, but it is easily preventable. Mr Nulty has a son, aged 12 months, and hopes that the app will be a simple, quick and free means of getting useful information about caring for young teeth.

Mr Nulty said that he decided to launch the app as the team receives many questions from parents about how to care for the milk teeth, when to brush the teeth and visit the dentist and how to encourage children to eat healthily. Researching the Internet can be time-consuming and confusing if you’re unsure where to look and this app means that it is very simple for parents to get answers to the questions they have.

Mr Nulty said that the running costs for the app are very low and admitted that he is not a technical or IT wizard; he also stressed that he won’t be giving up his day job any time soon, even if the app is a great success.

The Dentist4KIDS app is available to download free of charge from iTunes and Mr Nulty is hoping to make it accessible to the Android market soon.
