Ramsbottom Children Enjoy Lessons In Dental Hygiene

Sample News Big

Children at a Ramsbottom School have been brushing up on their dental knowledge with a series of educational sessions.

Kids in Year 4 at Peel Brow Primary have been learning about dental health issues, including anatomy, oral hygiene and diet. Teachers have been educating the children using interactive activities, design tasks and fun quizzes and the children have had a great time. Caitlin Archer Patterson is one of the children who has really gained something from the classes; she and her classmates crafted giant tooth models and she said this activity has really made her realise why brushing is so important.

Caitlin said that the children are now able to identify the different types of teeth and they understand why it’s important that they clean their teeth every day.

Sue Field, a year 4 teacher at the school, said that the students have shown plenty of enthusiasm for the subject and they have enjoyed learning about the teeth and oral health. On the back of the sessions, children have been coming in and telling the teachers that they have been brushing their teeth at home and keeping an eye on what they eat.

Dental health is really important for children because it sets them up for good oral health during adulthood. Decay is extremely common among children, but it is preventable and sessions like these at Peel Brow Primary help to teach children good habits so that they are able to take preventative steps and enjoy healthy teeth and gums.
