Porcelain Veneers: Instant Orthodontics

Sample News Big

You can either spend your time and money to have traditional braces to have a beautiful smile, or you can eliminate the time and frustration of metal braces, and have porcelain veneers made for your front teeth.  Porcelain veneers are fabricated from thin tooth-coloured ceramic material that is permanently bonded to your teeth. They are custom designed for each patient to give them a more whiter and beautiful, natural looking smile. The entire procedure takes a few dental visits and the results are great! They are sometimes referred to as instant orthodontics.

After the dentist determines if the patient is suitable for porcelain veneers, and teeth are slightly prepared, so that there is enough room for the thin porcelain shells. After this, the model is sent to a special laboratory and the porcelain veneers are created. During the interim, the dentist could apply temporary veneers until the permanents arrive from the laboratory. This is more aesthetic and can also help to reduce teeth sensitivity.  The porcelain veneers are bonded to the teeth using a dental light. After they are touched-up and polished, the patient has a beautiful smile!

Hi,

I had 4 porcelain veneers put on the front of my teeth. After about 2 months one of them fell off as I was eating cereal for breakfast and I did not realize what it was and must have chewed it up and down the hatch it went. My question is should the venneer have come off that soon? I am extremly careful with them

My dentist charged me half price to replace the veneer claining the lab would not replace it for no charge. The dental staff said they would discuss it again with the lab. But in the meantime I am out an extra $200 and I think the replacement should have been free. Does anyone agree? I am finding a new dentist. I have been going to this guy for years so it will be his loss!

Thanks,
Sherry
