A dentist from Plymouth has offered to provide thousands of pounds worth of dental treatment for free after reading the story of Gabriela Andrews, a 48 year old woman who was left with just jagged bones after dental implant treatment failed.

Gabriela’s story was published in the local press in May this year; she underwent dental implant treatment more than three years ago, but was left with crops of jagged bone for teeth after treatment failed. She has been campaigning for compensation since without any luck. Fortunately, dentist Dr Mitesh Badiani, noticed her story and decided to offer the distraught dental patient a lifeline.

Dr Badiani, from the Plymouth Dental Centre of Excellence, has agreed to donate more than £25,000 worth of dental treatment to give Gabriela a brand new smile.

Talking about Dr Badiani, Gabriela said that she was overwhelmed with his generosity and was looking forward to being able to smile with confidence; she said that it has been so long since she had her own natural teeth that she is struggling to imagine what she will look like after treatment.

Gabriela said that it felt like a “dream” when Dr Badiani called her to offer her the treatment; he said that he wanted to show her that there were some good dentists out there.

Dr Badiani is donating his time and expertise and the implants are being donated by BioHorizonsUK. Dr Badiani said that he realises that things go wrong from time to time, but it is important to put them right. Dr Badiani and his colleagues weighed up the situation when they heard of Gabriela’s plight and decided that they should offer to use their skills to make somebody’s life better.

Gabriela saved up for implant treatment for years after losing her teeth as a result of an underlying health condition; however, when she went for treatment, it failed and she was left unable to eat solid food. The dentist who performed the procedures has since been struck off and he has moved back to Poland.

Dr Badiani expects Gabriel’s treatment to take between 6 and 9 months.
