A dentist from Plymouth has been cleared of making false claims by adjusting patient treatment records.

Dr Mitesh Badiani, clinical director of Plymouth Dental Care of Excellence in St Budeux, said that he was relieved to be cleared of the allegations, which he claimed had been “hanging around his neck for six years.”

The General Dental Council accused Dr Badiani of adapting patient records to make unjust claims for 15 patients in 2006. At the time Dr Badiani was working at Victoria Dental Practice.

The case has been adjourned for several months but the General Dental Council finally concluded that the charges should be dropped and found Dr Badiani not guilt of misconduct.

Speaking to the Plymouth Herald, Dr Badiani said that he was eager to get back to looking after his patients after six years of trying to prove his innocence. He added that the situation had been stressful but he was pleased that the GDC had recognised that patient care was his priority and is now looking forward to focusing on doing what he does best.

Dr Badiani also thanked his colleagues and patients for their continued support during the case.
