Plans to open a brand new dental surgery in East Wichel have been submitted to Swindon Borough Council.

The application has been put forward by representatives from Wichelstowe Dental Care and Hunter Page Planning. If the application is successful, the new clinic, which will provide both NHS and private dental services, will open six days a week, with a morning surgery planned for Saturdays. The team will comprise of three dentists, a dental hygienist and a receptionist.

The desired location for the surgery is Staldon Court, which is just off East Wichel Way.

Plans to open a new surgery have been welcomed by local councillors, as there is a shortage of practices in the area, with many local patients forced to travel to Wroughton or Old Town to see a dentist.

In a statement supporting the application, Emma Greening, from Hunter Page Planning, said that there is “a huge demand for dental places within the local area” and added that the primary aim would be to provide services for patients living in the Wichelstowe development.
