Plans to open a new dental practice in Chalfont St Peter get the green light

Plans to open a new dental practice in the Buckinghamshire village of Chalfont St Peter have been given the green light.

According to proposals submitted to planning officers, developers will turn the first and second floors of premises located at 3, Market Place into a new surgery. Building work will also involve removing an existing external metal staircase and a single-storey pitched roof workshops, which was described as “delipidated” in the application.

Three dentists will join forces to provide local patients with access to services in the heart of the town, providing around 5,000 residents with dental care.

In the statement accompanying the planning application, developers suggested that a new practice would have a positive impact on the local area, increasing access to dental services and providing patients with some treatments and therapies that are currently not available in the surrounding towns and villages.

The practice will also open outside of standard working hours, offering patients the chance to see a dentist during the evenings and weekends.
This will make it much easier for residents who work shifts, those with full-time jobs and those with other commitments to get the treatment they need.

There are also plans to create a dental laboratory within the new facility, which will serve local NHS dentists and keep costs down for patients who require restorative treatment.
