Plans to create a new dental surgery at an entertainment and retail hub in Halifax have been given the green light.

A new dental surgery will now occupy one of the largest units at Broad Street Plaza after the owners were successful in their bid to change the use of the vacant store from a restaurant to a ‘non-residential institution.’

Plans to turn the former Chinese buffet restaurant into a vast new dental centre were submitted by mydentist, one of the UK’s largest dental chains. Shaun Wilde, regional director, said that the goal is to provide patients in Halifax with easy access to appointments seven-days-a-week at a dental facility that is kitted out with state of the art equipment. The new clinic will boast 15 dental chairs and will be one of the biggest in the area. Mydentist is proposing to merge its three existing Halifax practices, which are located on Clare Road and Parkinson Lane, to create a spacious, modern facility, which is easily accessible and close to shops, restaurants and leisure and entertainment venues.

All staff members currently employed at the chain’s three Halifax practices are expected to relocate to the new central clinic once it opens.
