Plans submitted to open new dental surgery in Pocklington

Plans to open a new dental surgery in Pocklington have been submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

The proposals relate to 4, Barmby Road, Pocklington and include plans to add an extension to the front and rear of the property, alter the existing windows and doors, install air conditioning systems and create a new access point for vehicles.

If the plans are given the green light by planning officers at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the surgery will undoubtedly help to ease pressure on local dental services and provide opportunities for local residents to access care on their doorstep.

News of the proposal has been welcomed by some residents, including one local patient who described the potential opening of a new dental surgery as “great news,” which is “long overdue.” There has been a shortage of dentists in the area for some time, residents claimed, and a new practice would be a valuable addition to the community.

Some residents also suggested that local people were travelling significant distances to see a dentist. Having a new surgery in Pocklington would be particularly beneficial for those who don’t drive and patients who struggle to get around.

A decision on the plans is expected in the coming weeks.
