Plans submitted to open new dental surgery in Buxton nightclub

Plans have been submitted to open a new dental surgery in a former nightclub in Buxton.

The owners of Hope Dental Private Care Ltd have filed an application to convert the AMP Venue into a new practice. The premises, which are located on Market Place, have previously been used as a nightclub. The venue was known as Faces and The Gaslight before opening as a live music venue under the AMP name.

Dentists are hoping to secure permission to change the use of the building and open a new practice, which would provide local residents with improved access to dental services.

The application states that it is common for dental practices to be located within similar commercial settings and confirms that the transition will not impact the exterior of the building or the aesthetic of surrounding premises.

The works will enhance and preserve the original features of the building and guarantee the “long term sustainability and future use of the building.” The statement accompanying the proposal also indicates that the project will have no bearing on conservation areas close to the new location.

If plans to open a new practice are given the green light by officers at High Peak Borough Council, the practice will employ four full-time and four part-time members of staff.

The plans are available to view online and residents are invited to leave comments here.
