Plans Submitted For New Dental Centre In Preston Superstore

Plans to open a new dental centre in the Sainsbury’s superstore in Deepdale, Preston, have been submitted to the council.

The Centre for Dentistry has agreed to take on a lease to open a new branch at the superstore, which would open from 8am until 8pm on weekdays and allow shoppers to combine doing their weekly grocery shop with a trip to the dentist. The surgery would also open at weekends with expected hours of 10am until 6pm on Saturdays and 11am until 3pm on Sundays.

If the plans are approved, the new surgery will occupy 1,200 square feet at the front of the store. The fees would be competitive with other local private dental practices and the surgery would offer a comprehensive range of services, with two dentists and a dental hygienist on-site. The expected cost of a check-up, which includes dental X-rays, is around £35.

In a statement accompanying the planning applications, the Centre for Dentistry states that the aim of the new surgery is to make family dental care more accessible and affordable.

There are already 16 Sainsbury’s supermarkets with on-site dental practices in the UK.

The plans are available to view online at the city council’s website.
