Patients who are waiting to register with a dentist in Pembrokeshire have been urged to contact local practices, after it was confirmed that a number of new NHS dental places have been made available in the area.

Recently, representatives from Hywel Dda University Health Board undertook a review of services to ascertain where extra places were required. As a result of the exercise, the board has offered new contracts in the area, creating a number of new NHS dental places across Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire.

New contracts have been awarded to surgeries in Tenby, Milford Haven, Llandovery, Carmarthen and Llanelli and Burry Port.

Patients who are currently on a waiting list to register with a local NHS dental practice will be contacted in due course, but anyone who isn’t currently on a waiting list has been advised to contact the practices directly.

Director of Primary Care, Community Care and Long-Term Care, Jill Paterson, said that the board was pleased to offer new NHS dental places across the region to ease waiting lists and enable more people to see a local dentist. Anyone who is hoping to join an NHS register is advised to get in touch with their local practice. If you’ve been unable to find a place, call 01267 229 692.
