A patient who suffered with dental phobia has shown off the results of a staggering £27,000 dental makeover.

Rob Welton, a 32 year old snake handler from Bury, suffered from such profound anxiety that he avoided going to the dentist for years. Just two years ago, he had several missing teeth and the remaining ones were rotten. Now, he has a beautiful smile which he can’t stop showing off to friends and family.

Rob, who runs his own business touring the country showcasing amazing animals, admitted that he felt incredibly self-conscious about his appearance, but was terrified of going to the dentist. Rob set up Ranger Rob’s Animal Experience over ten years ago and travels around schools and children’s parties. He decided to undergo dental treatment to improve his self-esteem, make his family happier and improve his work prospects.

After a year and a half of treatment at Carisbrook Dental in Whitefield under the guidance and expert care of dentist Tariq Idrees, Rob now looks completely different. Mr Idrees removed all of Rob’s remaining teeth and has created a brand new smile using titanium implants and dental bridges. Implants are small screw-like devices placed inside sockets in the jawbone. They are designed to act like tooth roots. Once the implants are secure, they can then be attached to a bridge, which replaces the visible section of the tooth, giving you a natural looking, healthy smile. Rob funded the treatment with savings and help from his friends and family.

Following treatment, Rob said that his new smile has changed his life. His partner Samantha and daughter Ellie have noticed and incredible difference and he feels so much more confident. Now Rob just wishes he had been brave enough to take action sooner.
