Patient Group Praises Portsmouth Dental School
A patient support group has praised a dental school in Portsmouth.
Healthwatch Portsmouth visits and assesses local health services in order to inform patients about the services available to them and identify problem areas. It has recently praised Portsmouth Dental Academy, which trains dentists, dental therapists and dental hygienists.
Portsmouth Dental academy provides dental services for locals who are able to receive treatment at a reduced fee. This works in exchange for enabling the students to hone and develop their clinical, communication and chair-side skills.
Manager of Healthwatch Portsmouth, Steven Taylor, said that the dental academy is a “fantastic asset” to the local area and a valuable service for those suffering from dental problems. He added that the people of Portsmouth are lucky to have the service.
The dental academy is part of the University of Portsmouth.
