Procter and Gamble has announced that athletes competing in the London Olympics will use their oral hygiene products.

Procter and Gamble is working with the London Organising Committee for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games to manage the dental clinic and provide athletes with dental products; the company owns Crest and Oral-B.

The clinic, which has opened in the Olympic village, will provide athletes with a host of dental services. It will be staffed by a carefully selected dental team and will open 24 hours a day during the games.

Dr Tony Clough, a dental expert working at the Games, said that he will be working with Procter and Gamble to provide advice about how dental care can optimise sporting performance. The company will also be raising awareness of the importance of oral health for the general public.

Dr Paul Warren, director of global and professional and scientific relations at Procter and Gamble global oral care, said that the Olympic partnership is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to “improving lives worldwide.”

Procter and Gamble has secured deals to sponsor some of the British athletes, including open water swimmer, Kerri-Ann Payne. Payne will be the authorized brand ambassador for the Oral-B Triumph 5000 with Smart Guide toothbrush.
