Oil Pulling: The Latest Dental Trend To Hit India

Sample News Big

An ancient technique has become the latest dental trend to hit India.

Oil pulling, which involves gargling with oil for a period of time each morning before eating, has been around for more than 3,000 years, yet it has made a resurgence in India, becoming one of the most popular oral hygiene techniques.

The process was introduced in Ayurveda, and is designed to effectively pull bacteria out of the mouth, reducing the risk of oral infections, gum disease and abscesses.

Supports of oil pulling believe that the technique removes toxins, additives and preservatives from the mouth, which boosts oral health and reduces the risk of a host of health issues, from digestive conditions and insomnia, to back pain and heart disease.

People who swear by oil pulling also claim that it can help to lower the chances of developing kidney disease and even AIDS; however, health experts are sceptical, as there is very little scientific evidence to support the efficacy of oil pulling.
