Oasis Dental Care, Hucknall, hosted a dental awareness day to encourage people to visit their dentist and convince both adults and children that going to the dentist is not a scary experience.

The practice, located on Portland Road, opened its doors to allow people to have a look around the surgery and get involved in fun activities, as well as raising money for a good cause. The practice hosted a strawberry tea to raise money for Breast Cancer Care, a cause close to the hearts of many of the staff. Practice manager Vicki Wallis explained that three members of the team have relatives who have been affected by breast cancer and they wanted to do something to support the charity.

Alexa Ryan, from the dental team, dressed up as Mighty Molar and Sarah Johnson transformed into the Tooth Fairy for the event, which was a huge hit with the kids. There were plenty of cakes and treats on offer during the day and children were given toothpaste samples to take home and advised to brush their teeth twice a day.

Staff members were also on hand to answer questions about oral health and teeth cleaning. Vicki Wallis said that the event was a great success; everyone had fun, the patients learned that going to the dentist doesn’t have to be scary and the practice raised £123 for Breast Cancer Care.
