NHS Community Dental Services To Change In Bedfordshire

Sample News Big

Health officials in Bedfordshire have confirmed that there will be a shake-up in community dental services, in the county to make the system more efficient.

Currently, there are community dental services operating from 13 clinics across Bedfordshire and Luton, but there are plans to change the system to make it more effective and efficient.

Plans have been announced to close Dunstable Health Centre and all patients who currently make use of the service will receive a letter detailing the plans and providing information about services in the future. All patients will continue to receive care at an alternative clinic or a general dental practice.

A new dental clinic will open in Bedford Square during November and clinics in Mersey Place and the Purley Centre will remain open.

Tony Medwell, chief of primary care commissioning at NHS Bedfordshire, said that the changes will improve the system and enable patients to receive care in a “far more efficient way.”

Mobile dental services and home visits will not be affected and patients who make use of these services will continue to receive care as normal.
